About New Orleans

Internationally renowned for our cuisine, music and “laissez les bon temps rouler” (let the good times roll!), New Orleans is full of intrigue and home to year-round celebrations. From the excitement of the French Quarter to the elegance of the mansions of the Garden District and plantations of the Great River Road, there is a good reason we are known as “America’s Most Interesting City.” Daytime events range from architectural tours of the French Quarter and Garden District to soaring through the backwater bayous in a seaplane or airboat. In the evening, great events in our historic buildings and neighborhoods are accented by our classic cuisine and great music.

In spite of the well publicized after effects of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is ready and eager to host the meeting and incentive industry. There are over 25,000 hotel rooms available, restaurants and entertainment venues are open and in full operation, and the historic sites and neighborhoods of the city were largely untouched by the storm. At PRA New Orleans, we have our staff ready and available to welcome your return. Our local expertise and on the ground inside information will assure a successful program in a post-Katrina New Orleans. We look forward to welcoming you back!

Activities

Sportsman’s Paradise Fishing Adventure

Big game fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and saltwater sport fishing in the inland waterways and islands demonstrate why Louisiana is worthy of the nickname “Sportsman’s Paradise!” Less than 40 minutes from downtown New Orleans, experienced guides escort you into the waters of coastal Louisiana. Offshore full day trips into the Gulf chase the legendary Blue Marlin, big Tuna and Mahi-Mahi. Inland waterways can be fished in half day and full day programs and are abundant with Redfish and Speckled Trout, which are comparably ferocious on lighter tackle.

Air Boating the Bayou

Less than 30 minutes from downtown New Orleans, take a hair-raising ride deep into the bayou on a high-speed airboat. With shallow drafts that allow the boats to travel where all others cannot, you are up close with nature in a uniquely Louisiana fashion. Jumping alligators and low hanging Spanish moss mean you have to stay alert, and you will want to so you won’t miss anything!

Bayou Seaplane Adventure

Just minutes form downtown New Orleans, take off for a private seaplane ride over the swamps and bayous of South Louisiana. The seaplane touches down in a private reserve for lunch and an up-close bayou experience via airboat or touring boat.

Year Round Professional Sports Action

The NFL’s New Orleans Saints, NBA’s New Orleans Hornets, the AAA New Orleans Zephyrs and ECHL’s New Orleans Brass ensure there is pro sports action year-round. Your PRA New Orleans staff will arrange private accommodations in a fully catered luxury suite or private room for any of our teams. Of course, guests may rather enjoy a game from a private poolside barbeque in the outfield at Zephyr Field!

Special Events

Mardi Gras – The Ride of a Lifetime

Experience Mardi Gras as an insider! Guests take the ride down St. Charles Avenue in one of New Orleans’ best Mardi Gras parades, experiencing the unmatchable thrill of throwing beads to the throngs of people lining the parade route. Next, view the revelry of Bourbon Street from a private balcony overlooking the action.

Taste of Louisiana

What better way to welcome guests to New Orleans than by having them experience our world-renowned cuisine. Shrimp Rémoulade, Trout Meuniere, Veal Oscar; the list goes on. The theme can be extended from your evening event to a fun and participatory team building program earlier in the day, or simply an on site hands on lesson in preparing Creole and Cajun Cuisine.

Elegant Garden District Evening

For 200 years, the Garden District has been the home of captains of industry, financiers and legendary politicians. Its streets are lined with elegant mansions, giant oak trees and beautiful gardens. On this evening, guests enjoy a gourmet dinner in one of the districts most beautiful private mansions.

Cajun Fais Do Do

Enjoy a lively evening of Cajun music and entertainment while dining on traditional cuisine. Guests dance the night away in a Cajun dance hall while learning to “two-step” from certified instructors.

Guests then travel to Mardi Gras World to take a look behind the magic of Mardi Gras during their visit to New Orleans! Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World is New Orleans’ showcase of carnival, with thousands of sensational sculptured props and breath-taking giant figures on display year-round. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras and photograph themselves next to King Kong, Marilyn Monroe, the giant Bacchasaurus, and thousands of other props and sculptures. Before departing, guests enjoy King Cake and Coffee…a New Orleans Mardi Gras favorite.

Jambalaya, Crawfish Pie, File Gumbo…

Experience the fun, food and folklore of Louisiana by taking an entertaining cooking class in the heart of the French Quarter. What's New

Fulton Street Entertainment District

The Fulton Street Entertainment District has the hottest new restaurant and music venues in New Orleans. Fulton Street was the main entertainment promenade for the 1984 World’s Fair, which rejuvenated the city’s warehouse neighborhood and sparked riverfront development. This exciting new entertainment district includes Bon Appetite, Todd English’s French brasserie, Riche, 528, and a music club. Chef Joel Dondis recently announced his fresh local seafood contribution to the District - Grand Isle. Gordon Biersch Brewery and Restaurant occupies another corner of the development. Adrian Gill for Men, the signature men’s salon and retail store features classic barbershop antiques, gifts and memorabilia, aromatic cigars, pints of Guinness and signature shaves. The Fulton Street Entertainment District is available for private “block party” events in which guests have exclusive access to the promenade and can sample all of the venues over the course of the event.

Ritz-Carlton New Orleans

One of the positive effects of Katrina, is that most of the hotels in New Orleans took the opportunity to completely upgrade their properties. As a result, there are fresh new hotel rooms, lobbies and meeting space at every turn. In fact, the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans was recently named to Conde Nast Traveler U.K.’s hot list of the best 65 new hotels in the world. Only eight hotels in the U.S. made the list! Says Conde Nast, “They have plumped up the hotel's luxury quotient by upgrading the already palatial spa and enlarging and polishing the already stellar staff.” Located in the 1909 Maison Blanche, one of downtown's most famous buildings, the hotel is a visual and emotional anchor for New Orleans, open to commercial Canal Street on the front and the French Quarter at the back.

Don’t Miss Destinations

There is a lot happening in New Orleans, and the national media is taking note! The Los Angeles Times named New Orleans one of the world’s “don’t miss destinations.” In December 2006, Orbitz described New Orleans as an “in” location for experience seeking vacationers. Travel + Leisure Magazine’s January 2007 issue included New Orleans in its “Where to Go Next” feature and Travelocity recently named New Orleans one of 2007’s top 10 favorite gourmet destinations in the world. New Orleans continues to be the home of major sporting events. The first and second rounds of the 69th Annual NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament were played at the New Orleans Arena March 15-17, 2007; the Zurich Classic, a stop on the illustrious PGA tour, was held at TPC Louisiana April 16-22, 2007. The Arena Bowl will be played at the New Orleans Arena in July 2007. In 2008, the Superdome will host the Allstate Sugar Bowl and the New Orleans Arena will be the site of the 57th NBA All-Star Game February 17, 2008.
